ANOTHER COLLAPSE IN THE CENTER OF RIGA: TWO CARS FELL UNDER THE PAVING STONES

The center of Riga is again not strange, but also in the center of attention. The problem we are facing again is the old communications that led to another accident. On Gertrudes street, there was a collapse under the paving stones due to a burst pipe. Two cars moving on this site failed, and to get them had to call special equipment.

One motorist still managed to get out of the collapse on their own, but the car itself needs repair. As it turned out, the cause of the collapse were tests carried out by utilities. The pipe simply couldn't stand the pressure and burst. The stream of water began to wash away the ground with lightning speed and formed a hole that was not visible under the paving stones.
At the moment, there is information that all the consequences have been eliminated. But many people are interested in whether this problem will happen again, because according to some data, the heating line that runs underground has been serving for more than 57 years and needs major repairs. Currently, new projects are being developed that will be updated, but the state and authorities do not have enough money to spend on updating communications.
